Catification

Ah, the wonderful art of catification. As, pet owners, I'm sure we all feel each other when we say our pet is more than a pet, it's family. Having a cat is no different, they grow with us, live with us, and love us unconditionally. Well, scratch that; some of you might be thinking 'only if food is involved' 😂 But that doesn't mean that we don't think about their happiness, their sense of belonging in our home, them feeling safe and secure in a world full of giant hoomans. This is where catification comes in. As Jackson Galaxy said:

"Catification is the art of making changes and adjustments to your home that meet the needs of both you and your cat (aesthetically and spatially)."

This means that you will give your cat a sense of territory and belonging by adding certain things in your house that they can claim as theirs.

There are so many options available these days, especially with more people being interested in catifying their homes. The easiest thing you can do is look up on Amazon for a bunch of cat trees that suit your price range and you think your cat will love; it doesn't have to be something so pricey and grand.

Another thing you can provide your cat is a bunch of steps or boxes on the wall, making a whole pathway for them to explore! This idea will give your house a modern twist since it's an easy way to incorporate your needs too - add a few wall racks and put some fancy decor in them!

If you want a more subtle option, go ahead and add some cat beds, or smaller cat trees.

The options are endless when it comes to catification, but the reason behind it is always the same: to give your cat a sense of territory and belonging in your home. If they don't have anything to claim as theirs, aggression can break out since they have no safe place to go to.

If you have a cat, I strongly advise you to try and catify your home, of course, according to your budget. Your cat will definitely thank you for providing them with their space and this is the key to living in harmony with your cat :)
